The Mountain Attack 2026 marathon route starts in the centre of Saalbach, with a fast sprint through the village toward the Schattberg base area.

From there, athletes begin the first major ascent to Schattberg (2,020 m), reaching Checkpoint 1 and the first supply station on fully marked, lit, and controlled pistes approved by the organisers.

The course then flows into a demanding sequence of climbs and descents, including Schattberg-Mulde, Westgipfel (2,096 m), and a steep descent into Hinterglemm (1,004 m) for Checkpoint 2.

Racers continue the marathon ascent toward Zwölferkogel (1,984 m), followed by a technical north-route descent to Hochalm (1,010 m), covering 2 more Checkpoints.

In the final section, athletes climb past Sonnhof mid-station toward Hasenauer Köpfl (1,791 m) and Reiterkogel (1,819 m) before the last skin change and ascent of Bernkogel (1,740 m).

The race concludes with a fast descent on a new marked route back into Saalbach, finishing at the Schattberg X-Press valley station. Here, Checkpoint 6, the final supply station, and the Mountain Attack Arena finisher tent welcome exhausted finishers.
